It is difficult not to shed a tear when reading or watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when Hedwig was killed during the Battle of the Seven Potters. Everyone’s beloved owl had been a comforting company to Harry – she was intelligent, loyal, affectionate and a true friend, his only friend at 4 Privet Drive.
This friendship started when Hagrid purchased a beautiful snowy owl at the Eeylops Owl Emporium and gave it to Harry for his 11th birthday. Hedwig was the first-ever birthday present Harry had ever received, and we would bet a hundred golden galleons that it was his favourite one.
